CBT ~ EMDR ~ ACT ~ MINDFULNESSPsychological Therapy specialising in Trauma & PTSD
Hello, I'm Emran,
I've spent nearly twenty years working in mental health, in NHS Talking Therapies and now in my own practice, as a BABCP accredited CBT therapist and EMDR practitioner, supporting adults through anxiety, depression, PTSD and complex trauma. I offer therapy online across the UK.
Trauma isn't always obvious. Sometimes it's a single event, a clear before-and-after. More often it's the quieter kind, the sort that builds up slowly over years until you can't quite pin down what it even is anymore. Most people who sit across from me don't walk in with a tidy label. It might feel like anxiety, or OCD, or just a heaviness they've never had the words for. Whatever shape it takes, you don't need to have it figured out before we start, that's part of what we do together.
I'm trained in CBT, EMDR, ACT and Mindfulness, and I'll draw on whichever fits you and what you're carrying. But technique is only ever part of it, what matters far more is whether you feel safe enough to actually open up the messy stuff, at a pace that's yours, in a way that makes sense for your life.
Some of what I bring to this room, I didn't learn from a course. I've grown up between two cultures, so I understand cultural complexity from the inside. I'm a dad who's been through burnout himself, which taught me what it's like to hold everything together on the outside while things feel unmanageable underneath.
I offer evidence-based therapy that still makes room for who you actually are. Together, we'll work through what's weighing on you and build something that holds when things get hard again.
If any of this sounds like where you're at, get in touch. The first step is just a free consultation, no pressure, just a conversation to see if we're a good fit.

A free 15-minute call. No commitment, no pressure - just a chance to share a little, ask questions, and see if we're the right fit.
THERAPY APPROACHESEvidence-based therapy, without the jargon.
I offer a handful of approaches, all grounded in research and NICE guidance. Which one we use, and how, depends on what's actually going on for you and what you need.
CORE FOUNDATION
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
CBT helps you understand the relationship between your thoughts, feelings and behaviour. When you're stuck in patterns that grew out of trauma; avoidance, hyper-vigilance, distorted self-belief, it gives you practical, structured tools to notice what's happening and respond differently.
My CBT practice is trauma-focused where needed, integrating Trauma-Focused CBT protocols alongside broader cognitive and behavioural work.

Eye Movement Desensitisation & Reprocessing (EMDR)
EMDR is one of the most effective NICE-recommended treatments for PTSD. It helps your brain reprocess distressing memories, reducing their emotional intensity, often without needing to talk through every detail. It's powerful, evidence-based, and often quicker than people expect.
I've been practising EMDR for over 13 years and have used it extensively with complex presentations, including CPTSD, childhood trauma, and sexual abuse.

Acceptance & Commitment
Therapy (ACT)
ACT takes a different angle. Rather than fighting difficult thoughts and memories, it helps you change your relationship with them, so they lose their power to control your behaviour. The goal isn't to stop the pain, but to build a life that matters in spite of it. For trauma survivors, this is often transformative.
ANXIETY ~ CHRONIC PAIN ~ DEPRESSION ~ BURNOUT ~ LOW SELF ESTEEMINTEGRATIVE
Mindfulness-Based CBT (MbCBT)
Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy combines CBT skills with mindfulness practice, helping you notice your thoughts without being swept away by them. It builds a steadier, more grounded relationship with your inner world. Particularly helpful for people with recurring depression, high anxiety, or a very busy, self-critical mind.

WHO I WORK WITHReaching out takes courage
Trauma and PTSD are my main focus, but plenty of what comes through the door is anxiety, depression, OCD, or something that doesn't have a name yet. If you're not sure whether what you've been through "counts," that's a fine place to start - we can work it out together.
-
Single-incident and ongoing trauma. Road accidents, assault, sexual trauma, birth trauma, medical events. When one thing changes everything and won't let go.
-
Repeated or prolonged trauma, childhood abuse, domestic violence, neglect. This kind of thing shapes more than memory. It shapes identity, and how you relate to people. It takes time, and it takes safety built up slowly.
-
Men are less likely to seek help. I offer a direct, non-judgmental space that works with how men actually experience difficulty.
-
Obsessive thoughts, compulsions and rituals that consume your time and energy. CBT with ERP is the gold-standard treatment for OCD, and I have extensive experience delivering it well.
-
Generalised anxiety, constant worry, and a mind that won't switch off. I aim to help you understand what's keeping the anxiety going and what actually helps ease it, long-term.
-
When everything feels flat, heavy or pointless. We work together to understand the patterns keeping you stuck and help you move, gradually and sustainably towards what matters.
-
Persistent worry about illness, constant checking, reassurance-seeking that never quite satisfies. I aim to help you understand the cycle maintaining it and find a way out of it.
-
The dread before social situations. The post-event replay. The self-consciousness that quietly makes life smaller.

COMMON QUESTIONSYou might be wondering…
Can EMDR be done online?
Yes. EMDR adapts well to online delivery, and I am trained to work in this format. You'll need a stable internet connection and a private space. Many clients find online EMDR just as effective as in-person work.
Do you offer consultations before I commit?
Yes. I offer free 15-minute phone consultations so you can ask questions, share a bit about what’s going on, and see if we feel like the right fit. No pressure. No hard sell. Just space to explore.
How many sessions will I need?
It genuinely depends on what you're working with. Focused difficulties can sometimes shift in 6–12 sessions. Complex or long-standing presentations usually benefit from more time. I’ll give you an honest, realistic view at your initial consultation.
Do you work with men specifically?
I don't exclusively, but I have significant experience and a particular interest in men's mental health. I understand how trauma presents differently in men and offer a style that tends to work well.
